Many flying and space games are compatible with a mouse and keyboard, but a flight stick — an advanced type of joystick — tends to offer more control. This flight stick from Thrustmaster lets you experience flying with a stick without breaking the bank. The device features magnetic sensors to enhance accuracy and reduce wear, and the buttons on the base and on the stick itself can be programmed for each game. If you want to spend a little more, it’s also available in a package with a separate throttle unit and rudder pedals for $149.99.

When it comes to which gear for your own gaming experience and skills should be upgraded, it will ultimately come down to personal preference. We know a few of our friends who are just about professional gamers (big Fortnite people) who prefer an old mechanical keyboard and beat up mouse pad; however, when it comes to their mouse, headset and overall PC rig, they’re constantly on the prowl for the latest upgrades. Others we’ve spoken to can get by with just about any gaming gear as long as it works, while some others we know are consistently trying to get that edge over their opponents in any way possible.

Conventional and virtual reality games are demanding more and more graphics power, which means even if you purchased a high-end computer graphics card for your PC a few years back, it's likely time for an upgrade. It’s possible to spend thousands of dollars on the latest high-resolution graphics cards, but Nvidia’s GTX 1080 sits at a sweet spot in the market, at just over $500. The GTX 1080 is also one of the least expensive graphics cards that can handle the latest 4K displays for gaming with reasonable frame rates.
While you might not be as good as the pros, that doesn’t mean you can’t use the exact same tools they do to up your own game. We’ve looked at the esports competitive gaming gear used by the top players in some of the biggest games and collected the best of the best among controllers, mice, keyboards, headsets and more. This is what it takes to play like a pro.
Unlike TriHard, cmonbruh’s emote has always been slightly controversial. It’s difficult to pinpoint when CmonBruh really became a meme, but the earliest known mention dates back to 2016, according to Know Your Meme. The emote is primarily used to express confusion over something being said on stream, usually in response to a chat participant saying something with a racist connotation. The emote is also used, however, to illustrate a more general confusion — hence the “c’mon, bruh” language.
Headsets that use smartphones to generate virtual reality imagery are a lot less expensive than standalone VR headsets like the Oculus Rift, though obviously you’ll have to factor in the cost of a compatible high-resolution mobile device. Google’s latest version of its Daydream View headset works with Google’s own Pixel smartphones and an expanded range of Android-based phones from Samsung, Asus, LG and Motorola, among others. Unlike some cheaper all-plastic smartphone VR headsets, the lightweight Daydream View is covered with breathable fabric and designed to stay comfortable for long periods of play.

This unique hybrid design keeps the Ornata keyboard from being too “clicky” and loud like many mechanical keyboards (if you’re the type that finds that noise to be bothersome). The Razer Ornata isn’t a bad deal at its usual price tag of $100, but Razer Black Friday deals knock 30 percent off, bringing this unique hybrid mechanical/membrane keyboard down to just $70 on Amazon.

It's been a while since I reviewed an LG smartphone and the new LG V40 ThinQ is a good one to break that dry streak. This phone features 5 built-in cameras if you can believe that! Why does anyone need 5 cameras on their phone? Stay tuned for my review coming soon. Please follow The Gadgeteer or subscribe to our newsletter so you won't miss my review. (11/21)
This is a chair that is specifically designed for those who work day-to-day with technology as the Gesture comes with ergonomic 8-hour support (we know, game sessions go longer than that!). The chair is quick to make adjustments and molds to the user, no matter the body type. People have various preferences in the way that they sit, but what makes the Gestures so great is the type of person you are isn’t really relative as it comes with great versatility. If you sit for long hours a day whether playing online games or for work, the Steelcase Gesture comes in as premium and high-end. In our opinion however, it is worth the price if you want to be free of that well-being, long-term posture and physical health guilt.
Advances in battery tech and Bluetooth mean wireless headphones don't always carry a hefty price tag anymore. Among the best of the bunch are these lightweight stereo headphones from Jabra, which give up to eight hours of audio on their rechargeable batteries. They also come with a cord so they can be used when the batteries run out, or on airplane flights.
One of the first things you learn on Twitch is the language of its unique emotes. Before you know it, “Pogchamp” will be shorthand for “excited,” “DansGame” will mean you’re disgusted, and the omnipresent “Kappa” face will punctuate all your dry sarcasm. With Twitch swiftly becoming a social site, the emotes go a long way towards creating a sense of community.

That’s debatable. People know what Pepe the Frog means in 2018 — it’s why certain organizations like the Overwatch League don’t let people bring Pepe the Frog signs to events. Pepe the Frog’s existence as a Twitch emote is so sophisticated and ever changing that it can exist as its own article, but there are certainly some emotes that are more popular than others. FeelsBadMan and FeelsGoodMan are precisely what they sound like. One version of the frog, FeelsBadMan, is used to express disappointment over something on screen. The other, FeelsGoodMan, is used to celebrate an accomplishment. “Feels Good Man” is based on a line the original Pepe the Frog character said in Furie’s comic strip. Think of FeelsBadMan and FeelsGoodMan as Twitch’s own tragedy and comedy drama masks.

Jebaited is the face of well-known fighting game tournament organizer Alex Jebailey, who’s infamous for his enormous ego. According to a comment on Reddit’s OutOfTheLoop, “His ego is so big that he was actually made into a character in the game Divekick, and his head grows in size every time he wins a round.” “Jebaited” is just a funnier way of saying “baited,” as in being tricked into falling for a trap or ruse. Players and viewers can both be “jebaited” in various ways.

You’ll notice that all the monitors preferred by the pros have one crucial feature in common: a high refresh rate. A monitor that can refresh at 144 Hz, or even 240 Hz, means the picture will be as smooth as possible during crucial gameplay moments. Many features, like size and screen dimensions, come down to taste, but a good refresh rate is a must for elite players.
BibleThump is another crying child emote, this one the face of Isaac from the indie video game The Binding of Isaac. It’s a more general weeping emoji than BabyRage. It can refer to anything sad or disappointing, and it doesn’t carry the same connotations of immaturity and juvenile whining. It’s presumably called “BibleThump” because The Binding of Isaac was partially inspired by the biblical tale of Isaac.
Not every streamer can be partnered with Twitch, so only a small percentage of them can offer emotes natively to their viewers. Luckily, intrepid streamers have found ways around that. One of the ways they have done so is with FrankerFace, which we have said is an essential extension 7 Essential Chrome Extensions for Twitch Users 7 Essential Chrome Extensions for Twitch Users If you spend a lot of time watching streams on Twitch, these seven Chrome extensions are essential for convenient, enjoyable viewing! Keyboards used for gaming suffer a lot of wear and tear, which is why keyboards with precision mechanical switches designed to withstand millions of keystrokes started to replace cheaper and less robust versions several years ago. The K95 RGB Platinum keyboard from Corsair is built to last for years, with Cherry MX Brown mechanical key switches and an aluminum frame. It also lets you program six different key sequences, has media playback keys and a USB port, and each key can be programmed to have any backlit color you want.
What it means: TriHard is an extremely popular, yet controversial emote — and it has a detailed history. Based on a face made by streamer TriHex while at an anime convention in Dallas, the emote didn’t officially become “TriHard” until 2014 when TriHex was speedrunning Yoshi’s Island and noticed a Twitch staff member hanging out in chat. TriHex told Kotaku he did everything possible to get their attention and, essentially, was trying way too hard. So he became TriHard.
